THE ZOO

Monday, April 27, 2015

we had a long family weekend, we wanted to go to the beach but our plans fell through so we decided to take advantage of our long weekend and do some fun things with just the three of us.

on friday we went to zoo atlanta. the zoo is really beautiful and the paths are well shaded that it was quite nice to walk around. however, my recommendation is to go early (i.e. right when they open) or in the afternoon or maybe not on a friday. we got there around 10:30am and it was field trip central for the kiddos. there were so.many.kids running around and it was really hard for madelyn to get her chance to see the animals or really absorb the moment before a bigger kid would block her view.

the flamingos are the first ones to greet you, there are so many and madelyn kept calling them ducks.
madelyn was a huge fan of the gorillas, there is a little sitting area where you can just watch them. there were quite a few baby gorillas, they were so cute playing with each other. madelyn got a huge giggle attack when one of the little babies began to roll down the hill, it was too cute.
another one of m's favorites was the panda bears. she kept saying "bear, cutting grass! mommy ... bear, cut grass!?" i mean, i guess it kind of looks like that. i love this age and how big her imagination is.
by this time madelyn was starting to lose her marbles so we knew we needed a quick snack and a carousel ride before heading home. i wasn't sure how she would take the carousel but she ended up loving it!! as we would go by vy, she would wave at him with the biggest smile.
this age, right here is the best. we had such a fun day running around after her, watching her and listening to her explanation of everything she was seeing.
i love this little family of mine! xo

ATLANTA BOTANICAL GARDEN

Saturday, August 16, 2014

this is absolutely one of my favorite places in the city.

vy was playing golf this morning with his boys so i decided to take madelyn to the garden and invited one of my girlfriends and her little girl. it was a beautiful morning to wander.

currently they have their "imaginary worlds" exhibit. it is just beautiful.
this little fellow is the first thing you see when you come in and madelyn kept pointing saying "dog, dog dog." maybe cause it reminds her of dixie bear, they do kind of look a like...smart girl :)
these little frogs are my favorite. however, they have not won madelyn's heart just yet.
this little lady turned fifteen months today. i am not sure how she is getting so big but i will tell you it only gets better.
we took a little snack break by the frog pond.
this is how much fun madelyn was having. she really did love it. she was pointing and talking to everything and everyone. saying "hi, hi, hi!"

then we went to the splash pad.
she absolutely loved it. as did i.

and just like that...she was out.
i already want to go back, hopefully daddy can join next time.

hope everyone is having a beautiful weekend! xoxo

FOOD TRUCK WEDNESDAY

Wednesday, July 30, 2014

well hello hump day!

in brookhaven at blackburn park they have food truck wednesdays. vy and i went last year and it was beyond crazy busy so we made sure it get there as close to five as possible. we got there a quarter till so we decided we would let madelyn play on the playground for a bit before dinner.
you know, you would think children love playgrounds especially the swing...well not my little one. this is like the fifth attempted at the swings and she loses her mind. i'm telling you what a tough life this little girl lives, if only she knew how jealous i am that no one is pushing me in a swing.  which made the playground short lived, i'm going to blame it on the fact that she had two terrible non-existent naps today all while cutting two morals made her in a not so playful mood.
so to the food trucks we went...
we love food trucks, although we aren't not very good at trying new ones. we walk around and around a few times looking at each menu, debating and discussing what we think sounds yummy to just end up playing it safe. maybe next time we'll venture out (we always leave saying that)...
there are so many young families in our area and m just loves to watch the other children and wave 'hi!'

madelyn loves to walk, walk and walk...however she is not walking on her own quite yet. she has finally let go and is walking more while holding one hand so she's building her confidence. i know she'll get there in her own time and we'll be missing these days so for now i am loving that she wants our help.

before we left, we of course needed some ice cream. it's a must!
i think it was madelyn's favorite part, confirms that she really is my mini!

until next time, xoxo

HELLO SUMMER

Saturday, June 21, 2014

i am a summer baby, so i LOVE summer.

today we welcomed summer with open arms even though with the temperatures we've been having here, it's felt like summer for a few weeks now.

one of my girlfriend's told me recently about the star provision market. i've seen it as we love the westside area in town but i'd never thought to look into the market. they serve all kinds of bake goods, breads and coffee. however, we were there for the sandwiches and they were yummy. vy and i are already talking about what we would get next time.
i got the fried chicken biscuit (with a chocolate chunk cookie of course) and vy ordered the reuben, both were bigger than we expected and we were definitely satisfied after.
sitting can be a little tricky as it's mostly outdoors but what's wrong with a baby just sitting on the table enjoying her lunch?!!
to be honest, i sold vy on the star provision market because if we were in the area i could finally try jenis ice creams.
 it was delicious.

we had a celebrity sighting we'll we were there, vern yip from hgtv! he was in front of me in line but...i was too busy snapping pics, i didn't even notice him till he was out of jenis. vy pointed him out to me once i sat down, sad i didn't get to say hi since my mom is obsessed with him or even a photo. after we finished we walked outside and there he was again but...he was with his family and i didn't want to interrupt that. positives : i did get to see him and confirm vy did know who he was talking about and i can tell my mom.
hope you all had a wonderful kick off to summer weekend.

THREE YEAR TOGETHER

Wednesday, June 18, 2014

three years ago, i became his mrs.

we met in college, the saturday before i started my freshman year to be exact. he was in a fraternity and i had just joined a sorority. my very first mixer was with his fraternity and it was called "who wants to marry a pike?!" who would of known that almost ten years later we would be here. i am so happy for the path that we are on and i couldn't imagine doing life with anyone else.

i love you, vy pham!

FATHER'S DAY WEEKEND

Monday, June 16, 2014

oh another weekend has come not soon enough but gone too quickly. the only differences is that we got to celebrate the wonderful men who have been a major part in our lives. vy started the weekend off by playing golf with some of his friends while he was away my sister-in-law, madelyn and i went to a little pop up market in the city.
the root city market hosts local handmade vendors from the city, displaying and selling their crafts. it's was very cute and a good way to get out and enjoying the beautiful weather. my sil is crazy for these xk macarons and i don't blame her, they are beyond delicious. the baker only sells at little events and a few bakeries around town. she also bought this beautiful plant from a vendor called, very fine south, where a percentage of the proceeds go to a local bee farm. shopping local has it's benefits, you meet the maker behind the product, she the passion they have for what they are creating and where it comes from.
madelyn loves her auntie tu tu.
there were these amazing homemade ice cream sandwiches, all i needed to see is chocolate and pistachio and i'm in. oh, that was a little piece of heaven and i wish i had one more.
on sunday we celebrated my other half and madelyn's daddy, he is the best and we absolutely love and adore him.
there is something that happens when the man you fall in love with becomes the father to your child. i love him more and more each day. i love the way he loves madelyn and i love the way madelyn loves her daddy.
our families came over and we got to celebrate together. we are so lucky that we are both so close to our families and madelyn is more than lucky to have so many loved ones around.
i mean, look at this face. she is one loved little girl and we live for her.

hope you all had a beautiful weekend celebrating the men in your life that means the most to you.
